Steve Balentine
Founder and CEO
Steve launched HCAC in 2016 after a career working for Labor Unions over a span of more than 35 years. During this time, Steve served as a health care advocate in many capacities, including:
Labor Trustee on the Metropolitan Employees Benefit Association (MEBA) trust fund, representing 8 school districts and about 20,000 lives.
Labor Trustee on the California Public Employers-Employees Health Care Coalition (CPEEHC), representing over 400 school districts and 350,000+ lives.
Labor Trustee on the California Health Care Coalition (CHCC), representing over 4 million lives, serving at different times as the Chair, Co-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Later, Steve was recruited by a large brokerage firm to serve as its Labor VP, responsible for forming mutually supportive alliances with Labor to address healthcare issues. He also served as its consultant to Los Angeles City's Joint Labor Management Benefits Committee.
Having decades of experience in healthcare and understanding the need for organizations to break from the struggle to simply maintain the status quo, HCAC was formed. HCAC's primary focus has been towards getting ahead of the cost curve, lowering healthcare costs, and ensuring the ability of organizations to provide high quality, affordable, sustainable healthcare.
HCAC's core program is the Medical Expense Reimbursement Program (MERP), which is highly effective at reducing costs and improving benefits. To date, HCAC has saved its clients almost $60,000,000 in reduced claims costs.
